Close the PS4 and the console
If you have access to your PS4 controller, you can use it to disable your controller using several methods.
- Using the power menu
In the upper right corner of your PS4, select the “Power” option.

Turn off your controller by selecting “Turn Off PS4”.

On your PS4 controller, press and hold the PS button to open the “Quick Menu”.

In “Quick Tools” on the left, select “Power”. Then, on the right, select “Turn off PS4”.

Shut down PS4 without a controller
If your PS4 controller isn’t working or you don’t have access to it, use the button on your controller itself to turn it off.

If your current controller isn’t working, you can get this replacement controller to continue playing. To start, on your PS4 controller, press and hold the power button for seven seconds. When you hear the second beep, release the button and your controller will turn off. Press the power button on the PS4
If you release the power button before the second beep, your controller will go into sleep mode instead, so be sure to do this correctly.
